The Master’s Journey: From Kyoto to Brisbane

Our house style is forged on our philosophy: on style, on life and on what we want to evoke in our clients when they wear cloakroom tailoring. This philosophy exists in the way fabric drapes, the proportions, the geometry, and how our tailoring moves with the human form.

Put Simply, It's all About the Pattern

Reduced to its simplest form, this philosophy lives in our pattern. It is there, in the sum of two-dimensional panels, that an idea of proportion, balance and ease becomes something physical; something capable of giving shape to the body.

Welcoming the Pattern Master to Brisbane

Since beginning our work in Japan, we have treated our pattern as a living study; something to be continually questioned, refined and brought closer to the philosophy it is intended to express. In recent years, one man has been central to that evolution. Recently, we had the privilege of welcoming him to our Brisbane showroom.

Over three days, Mr Iwashita worked closely with our team to refine our pattern, studying the pitch of the sleeve, the geometry of the lapel, and the balance of the chest. He also shared his knowledge of the more technical aspects of fitting, including the way ironwork and pressing shape a garment before its final fitting in store.

The Next Evolution Awaits...

It was a rare opportunity to refine not only our process, but our understanding of fit, which will culminate in the next evolution of our house pattern, to be introduced later this year.
